We are appointing a Fire Safety Manager with strong expertise in Passive Fire Protection (PFP) and fire door repair, maintenance, and installation. This is a key role overseeing technical delivery, compliance, and quality across multiple sites, while building strong client relationships and helping grow our fire safety team (operatives, supervisors, and office support).
You must be highly professional, well educated, and able to communicate in excellent written and spoken English, including producing clear technical documentation and communicating confidently with clients, consultants, and residents where needed.
Key responsibilities- Lead and manage fire safety works, with a focus on PFP and fire doors (repairs, remedials, maintenance, installations).
- Ensure works comply with relevant standards and best practice, including (where applicable): BS 8214, BM TRADA / BWF Certifire guidance, manufacturer instructions, and project specifications.
- Conduct and/or oversee fire door inspections, surveys, and remedial schedules; identify defects and specify compliant solutions.
- Manage quality control: ITPs, checklists, photographic records, sign-off packs, and handover documentation.
- Coordinate site delivery with site supervisors and operatives, ensuring correct sequencing, access planning, and safe systems of work.
- Produce and review RAMS, programme updates, progress reports, and technical queries/RFIs.
- Support commercial delivery by identifying variations, additional works, and scope gaps early; assist with pricing and evidence where needed.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships (housing associations, local authorities, main contractors, consultants).
- Mentor and develop the team: recruitment input, onboarding, training needs, toolbox talks, and performance management.
- Liaise with office staff to keep records, compliance documents, certification, and audits organised and up to date.
- Drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Proven experience in a Fire Safety / PFP management role (or similar) with strong hands‑on knowledge of fire doors.
- Excellent understanding of passive fire protection principles: compartmentation, sealing systems, and compliant installation practices.
- Ability to confidently read specifications, drawings, schedules, and test evidence; strong attention to detail.
- Excellent English (spoken and written) – able to write professional reports/emails and represent the business with clients.
- Strong leadership: capable of managing operatives/supervisors and coordinating across multiple sites.
- Strong organisation and reporting skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
- Full UK driving licence (preferred if the role involves travel between sites).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Recognised fire door qualifications (e.g., BM TRADA, FIRAS, BWF Certifire, FDIS or equivalent).
- PFP-related certifications/training (manufacturer training, inspection training, or industry accreditations).
- Experience working in social housing / occupied buildings and understanding resident liaison.
- SMSTS/SSSTS, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness (or willingness to obtain).
