We're looking for a careful, constructive colleague to help assess and verify the standards of assessment at our Orpington college. You'll play a practical role in making sure assessment decisions are supported by clear evidence and applied consistently.
You'll work closely with tutors and assessors, reviewing practice, identifying improvements and following actions through. This role suits someone who combines attention to detail with an approachable manner and a commitment to helping colleagues deliver well.
Consistent assessment. Clear evidence. Constructive feedback.
What you'll do
- Review assessment decisions and learner evidence against the relevant qualification requirements, recording clear findings.
- Plan and carry out internal verification activity, maintaining organised sampling records and tracking agreed actions.
- Give tutors and assessors constructive feedback that supports consistent decisions and stronger assessment practice.
- Contribute to standardisation discussions so the teaching team has a shared understanding of assessment expectations.
- Identify gaps in assessment evidence or record keeping, and work with colleagues to resolve them promptly.
- Support preparation for external quality assurance activity and help maintain accurate, accessible quality records.
What you'll bring
- Relevant experience reviewing vocational assessment or carrying out internal verification or quality assurance.
- The ability to interpret assessment criteria, review evidence objectively and explain the reasons for your findings.
- Accurate record keeping and strong organisation, including following up actions and managing deadlines.
- Clear, constructive communication and the confidence to discuss assessment decisions professionally.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work with the team at our Orpington college.
Useful experience
- A relevant internal quality assurance or internal verification qualification.
- Experience with beauty or aesthetics qualifications, awarding organisation requirements or external quality assurance visits.
