Job Purpose Summary: To provide technical support across manufacturing and quality processes, ensuring equipment and production methods operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with medical-device standards. The role drives problem-solving, supports validation and continuous improvement, and helps maintain consistent product quality and operational efficiency.
What you will do:
- Support operations, quality, and engineering teams with day-to-day technical problem-solving.
- Investigate faults, process deviations, and non-conformances; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production machinery and medical-device assembly processes.
- Execute equipment qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ) and support validation activities in line with regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, FDA).
- Create and update technical documentation, work instructions, and maintenance records.
- Assist with root-cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools (5-Why, Fishbone, PFMEA).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability, reduce scrap, and optimise workflow.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Operations on new product introduction and process changes.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and GMP throughout all engineering activities.
- Provide technical training and guidance to operators and maintenance personnel.
What you will need:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Biomedical) or equivalent technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical systems and automated or semi-automated production equipment.
- Working knowledge of GMP, ISO 13485, and general medical-device regulatory expectations.
- Solid problem-solving capability using structured methods (5-Why, Ishikawa, FMEA, etc.).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and validation documents.
- Competent in root-cause analysis, fault-finding, and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
- Good understanding of validation principles (IQ/OQ/PQ) and process controls.
- Confident using standard software tools (e.g., MS Office, basic data analysis).
- Strong communication skills, able to work effectively with operators, engineers, Quality, and leadership.
- High attention to detail and commitment to compliance and safe working practices.
- Ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, and respond quickly to production needs.
