Our Transfer Station at Northumberland Wharf is a key part of this mission, and we're looking for a dedicated

Transfer Station Operative to join our hardworking team. This is more than just a job - it's an opportunity to contribute to a cleaner city and a greener future.

As a Transfer Station Operative, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring the smooth and safe handling of household and commercial waste.

You'll work closely with a team of skilled operatives, supporting the day-to-day running of the site and occasionally assisting at the Reuse & Recycling Centre (RRC).

Every task you take on helps us deliver an efficient service to the community.

Your responsibilities will include operating machinery and cranes, or learning to do so if you're new to this area.

You'll also help maintain a clean and tidy site, ensuring we meet health and safety standards and keep our neighbours happy by preventing complaints.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, and your contribution will make a real difference.

Previous experience at a Transfer Station or Reuse & Recycling Centre is helpful but not essential - we'll provide training for the right candidate.

What matters most is your commitment to working safely and effectively as part of a team.

You'll need good communication skills and the ability to adapt to different tasks.

This role involves shift work, including scheduled weekends, so flexibility is key.

The shift pattern rotates weekly: early mornings (06:00-14:00), afternoons (14:00-22:00), and a week that includes Saturday and Sunday shifts (08:00-18:00).

It's vital that you're able to arrive on time for these shifts to keep our site operating.

If you're comfortable working outdoors and keen to develop new skills, such as operating mobile and fixed plant machinery, we'd love to hear from you.
