An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. This role is crucial for driving the growth and success of our business by managing existing accounts and developing new commercial opportunities. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in executing our long-term waste strategy and ensuring the delivery of required revenues and tonnages.

Key elements of the role
The successful candidate will:
- negotiate and agree terms with commercial customers to deliver the required revenues and tonnages as defined in the long-term waste strategy
- support local authority and other long-term tendering and opportunities
- work closely with the Customer and Business Management teams, Operations, Finance and Legal teams to deliver the waste strategy objectives
- identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services
- generate leads and cold call prospective customers where necessary
- meet with new customers/clients and maintain relationships
- in conjunction with the Business Services team, prioritise customers and clients through any transition from new business opportunities to standard business operations
- create and maintain a client database including pricing, tonnage and forecast
- negotiate pricing and manage contracts with customers and suppliers
- carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present findings as necessary
- support the introduction of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) with customers and clients
