Influence the culture. Own the safety agenda. Be yourself.
You are not interested in ticking boxes or hiding behind policies. You want a role where safety is taken seriously, where your voice is heard and where you can make visible, lasting change on site.
This is a Health & Safety role at a growing fresh produce site in Cambridgeshire offering real autonomy, strong leadership support and the chance to take a good safety culture and move it to the next level.
This is not a corporate, clipboard-led environment. It’s a people-first food manufacturing business that values authenticity and leadership presence over bureaucracy. Your personality matters here and you’ll be trusted to lead in your own way.
You’ll take full ownership of the site safety agenda, operating in a visible, "wellies on" way, engaging operators and shift managers and embedding safety through trust rather than enforcement.
You’ll have the freedom to influence the senior ops team to implement the future H&S strategy and embed best practice in a way that works for the operation to ensure they are best in class.
As the business continues to grow, there will also be future scope and opportunity for you in the form of wider multi-site influence to longer-term Group or director-level responsibility, driven by performance and business direction.
The operation at a glance: This growing food manufacturer operates a complex, 24/7 operation in their fresh produce facility processing over 60,000 tonnes of produce annually. With 2 wash lines and 12 packing lines for both organic and conventional SKUs. The site turns over £65m annually and supplies major UK retailers with the finest quality produce. They have a flat structure, a people-focused ethos and an appetite for innovation and growth. With the future expansion on the horizon, this is a business offering stability with clear ambition.
What you’ll bring: To succeed, you’ll already be operating in a hands-on H&S management role within manufacturing (a food background would be advantageous), bringing formal H&S qualifications such as a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. You’ll also have strong, practical capability in risk assessments, workplace transport safety and SOPs. Above all, you’ll be someone who can win trust on site, communicate clearly and embed safety in a way that feels authentic, sustainable and engaging.
What’s next: You don’t need a polished CV just send over what you have and let’s have a no-pressure conversation.
