Drive growth into untapped sectors and help shape the next phase of the business. You’re probably working in a role where new business is already your focus. You enjoy the chase, the conversations, and the energy that comes with opening doors and turning opportunities into real customers. This role is a chance to build something meaningful, not just contribute to someone else’s pipeline.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in a strategic shift within the business, moving away from reliance on traditional sectors and proactively building relationships in new markets such as manufacturing and private education. It’s not about managing existing relationships; it’s about creating them. Here, you’ll have the freedom to build your own pipeline, explore new sectors, and help shape how the business grows in the years ahead.
There’s real autonomy, direct access to management, and the chance to make your mark early. Strong progression opportunities exist for you as the business scales into new sectors, with the potential to step into more senior commercial roles as success is delivered. People who perform well here don’t stay static; they progress quickly.
This role requires resilience. New business is rarely easy. Rejection is part of the process, success ratios can be tough, and internal processes won’t always be perfectly structured. You’ll need to navigate stakeholders, coordinate tenders, and keep momentum moving. However, if you thrive on ownership, energy, and the challenge of building relationships from scratch, this is a chance to establish yourself as a true new business professional and position yourself for future progression as the function expands.
The company is a fourth-generation, family-owned foodservice supplier with strong, long-standing partnerships across the UK hospitality sector. They supply some of the best-known restaurant brands in the country with fresh produce and ingredients to more than 4,000 customer sites. It’s an entrepreneurial environment where decisions happen quickly and talented people get noticed. Headquartered in Waltham Cross, the business has grown steadily through a combination of service excellence, commercial agility, and trusted customer relationships. With family leadership still actively involved in day-to-day operations, it’s a culture that values pace, accountability, and hands-on teamwork. It’s a fast, logistics-led business with a reputation for rolling up its sleeves and delivering.
What You’ll Need:
- Proven experience in new business development within food.
- Confidence to approach new markets and generate opportunities through networking, outreach, and face-to-face engagement.
- Ability to support new business tender processes and coordinate across internal teams such as distribution, technical, and operations.
- Excel and systems literacy to support day-to-day activity.
- Real strength in energy, resilience, and a growth-focused drive.
