About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Primary Teaching Assistant or HLTA to support mainstream and SEN primary provisions across Birmingham. Working at this rate, you will hold key responsibilities including class cover, small-group intervention, or 1:1 specialist SEN support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons during teacher PPA time across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2).
- Lead targeted small-group intervention sessions focusing on SATs prep, literacy, and numeracy.
- Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
- Assist class teachers with classroom management, pupil progress tracking, and safeguard compliance.
Requirements
- Qualification: Level 3 or Level 4 NVQ/CACHE in Supporting Teaching & Learning, HLTA Status, or a relevant Primary Education degree.
- Experience: Proven experience working within a UK primary school setting using the National Primary Curriculum.
- Specialist Knowledge: Familiarity with primary phonics frameworks (e.g., Read Write Inc. or Little Wandle) and SEN support techniques.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to process a new one) and clear right-to-work documentation in the UK.
