Role: Insurance Advisor
Reporting to: Head of Group Insurance

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Insurance Advisor will work closely with the Insurance Administrator, Property Managers and Head of Group Insurance to support the leaseholders that live in the buildings we manage. Opportunity to also be involved in the wider Cortland UK Company to include Corporate insurances and BTR policies. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage Reinstatement Cost Assessments (RCAs), including coordinating with surveying companies for RCAs that are due, completed, or overdue. Monitor payments and collaborate with the Property Management Team to provide instructions as required. Liaise with insurers regarding adjustments to Building Declared Values (BDV), ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Processing monthly insurance declarations, collaborating with insurance broker for timely submissions to include checking data, making any amendments, ensuring correct summaries are approved by Head of Group Insurance and processed with Accounts.
- Assist the Head of Group Insurance in their absence. Ensuring the smooth continuation of all insurance-related functions and duties.
- Advise on the management of claims alongside the Insurance Administrator, offering support in handling complex claims to ensure effective resolution and compliance with internal procedures. Part management of the insurance inbox and dealing with any relevant enquiries.
- Recommending appropriate insurance, collating information for renewals of policies and sending renewal invitations.
- Liaising with Property Managers and insurers regarding renewal premiums.
- Answering queries from Management Companies regarding their policy, providing documents. Updating leaseholders and/or PM with claims info.
- Understanding and executing the insurance documents and processes.
- Processing correspondence, renewals activity, new business quotations. Meeting with clients to assess their insurance needs and risk exposures.
- Ensuring that all workflow activity is completed in accordance with approved business processes.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients to ensure their insurance needs are met. Explaining the features and benefits of insurance products to clients and answering any questions they may have.
- Staying up-to-date with changes in the insurance industry and regulations and educating clients on any relevant updates.
- Complying with all approved procedures, customer service standards and external regulatory bodies.
- Ensuring that any customer complaints are identified and handled strictly within the company's complaints procedure.

Experience
- A background in finance, banking, or insurance is highly desirable. Experience in these sectors will benefit from a strong understanding of financial principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance, which are essential for managing insurance policies and claims effectively. Familiarity with industry-specific practices and procedures will also be advantageous in providing informed advice and navigating complex insurance matters.

- Understanding of underwriting principles: Advisers require an understanding of underwriting principles, as these form the basis of policy terms and premium amounts. This knowledge helps to explain policy details accurately to clients and associates.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance: Advisors require knowledge of insurance regulations and standards to ensure that the advice they provide and policies administered comply with the law and current regulations, they also monitor alterations or updates to the regulations to ensure they offer current and accurate advice.
- Customer service aptitude: Advisers use customer service skills to interact directly with clients, they use these skills to address client’s queries, explain complex insurance terms in understandable language and assist during complex insurance claims processes.
- Analysing claims: Dealing with complex and or high value insurance claims, ensuring thorough assessment, resolution and co-ordinating with all parties.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to include thorough attention to detail, the advisor will be required to liaise with internal clients, associates, external parties, assist in Group Training Sessions and training within the department.
- Organisation and time management: Ensuring compliance regarding policy renewal dates and no exposure to clients, prioritising and organising tasks to ensure nothing is missed and keep on top of workload.

- Level 3 Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) desirable.
