The Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated CAD Design Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about design, manufacturing, and engineering to develop their skills in a fast-paced, world-class production environment. Working closely with the Drawing Office Manager and other department heads, you will be involved in the full design lifecycle — from concept and CAD modelling through to production-ready drawings — with a particular focus on sheet metal components and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings for sheet metal components and assemblies using SolidWorks and SheetWorks.
  • Support senior engineers in the design and development of new products and bespoke fabrication projects.
  • Create and maintain accurate design documentation, BOMs (bills of materials), and revision-controlled drawings.
  • Apply design for manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure components can be efficiently produced using fabrication processes, including laser cutting, CNC folding, and welding.
  • Collaborate with the production and manufacturing teams to resolve design queries and support smooth handover from design to shop floor.
  • Contribute to design reviews, identifying opportunities to improve quality, reduce cost, and simplify manufacture.
  • Assist with modifications and updates to existing product ranges in response to customer requirements or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain organised and up-to-date CAD libraries and file management systems.
