About Us
We're a UK-based leader in mission-critical power solutions, trusted by clients across the defence, aerospace, and marine sectors worldwide. Our work matters; the systems we design power some of the most demanding applications on the planet. If you're an experienced power electronics engineer who wants their work to make a real difference, this is the role for you.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Analogue Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our growing team. You'll take technical ownership of exciting, complex power supply design projects β from initial concept all the way through to production while mentoring the next generation of engineers around you.
To be clear about what we do: we design power supplies. Our customers come to us with a specification, and our job is to engineer the right power solution to meet it. We don't always know or need to know exactly where that power supply will end up. It could be deployed on land, in the air, at sea, or somewhere in between. Our projects are not classified or top secret; there's no security clearance required and no restricted information involved. We simply take a customer specification and engineer the best possible power supply to meet it. If you've been put off applying to defence or aerospace companies in the past because of clearance concerns, this is not that kind of role.
At our core, we are an analogue engineering house. The majority of our work lives in the analogue domain: precision power conversion, magnetics design, and real-world signal behaviour. That said, we know great analogue engineers often carry strong digital skills too, and that's always a welcome addition to the team.
This isn't a role where you'll be stuck doing the same thing day after day. You'll collaborate with sales, production, quality, and customers, helping shape how we design and deliver world-class power solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading power supply design projects end-to-end β from interpreting a customer specification through schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation, test, and documentation
- Working closely with the sales team to translate customer requirements into winning technical solutions
- Driving improvements to our design gate process, setting standards that the whole engineering team benefits from
- Mentoring graduate engineers, apprentices, and NPI engineers β sharing your knowledge and helping people grow
- Engaging directly with customers and supporting FAI/FAT activities
- Collaborating with production to optimise manufacturing and test processes
- Managing component libraries, data packs, ATP generation, and VCRM compilation
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally bring a mix of strong technical expertise and the kind of collaborative mindset that makes teams better.
Technical skills:
- Strong analogue power electronics design experience β this is the heart of what we do
- Solid hands-on experience designing power supplies β DC/DC and AC/DC topologies, isolated and non-isolated, at a range of power levels and frequencies
- The ability to receive a customer power specification and confidently select topologies, components, and design approaches to meet it
- Power magnetics and planar magnetics design experience
- EMC/EMI design expertise β understanding how to design for compliance from day one, not as an afterthought, is something we genuinely value and will recognise in your package
- Thermal management and environmental stress design experience β important given our power supplies may be deployed across a wide range of environments, from ground vehicles to airborne platforms
- Schematic and PCB layout skills β if you're proficient in Altium PCB Designer, we will reward that. It's our tool of choice and candidates who can hit the ground running with Altium are particularly attractive to us
- Digital design knowledge is a bonus, but analogue is king here
- Familiarity with SolidWorks is an added advantage
You as a person:
- A natural communicator who can explain complex technical ideas clearly
- A confident leader who thrives in multidisciplinary team environments
- Organised, proactive, and able to juggle competing priorities without dropping the ball
- Someone who genuinely enjoys mentoring and developing others
Qualifications:
- HNC/D in a relevant engineering discipline (essential)
- Degree or Incorporated Engineer status (preferred, but equivalent experience welcomed)
- Right to work in the UK required; we welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and nationalities
Why Join Us?
We think we've built something pretty special here, and we want you to enjoy being part of it.
- 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
- Private healthcare for you and your family
- Flexible working hours β core hours 8:30amβ3pm, with a half-day every Friday
- Friday WFH built into your working week
- Yearly pay reviews tied to your personal development and business performance β Altium proficiency and EMC expertise are skills we actively recognise at review time
- Training & development opportunities and annual appraisals to support your career growth
- 5% employer pension
- Free onsite parking
- Monthly awards and regular team social events
- Volunteering days to give something back
