Location: Base facility in Yate, Bristol (covering South West regional sites)
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 approx. (DOE) + Profit-Related Bonus which last year 2025 was £8,000 on top
Overtime: is time and half
Travel: Regional coverage across Gloucester, Bristol, and Dorset and all sites we service are entirely commutable within a single day.
Benefits: Company van provided (must be securely parked at the Yate facility overnight) and yearly pay reviews
Hours: 7:30 - 16:00 Monday - Thursday, 8:00 - 13:30pm Friday

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and autonomous Service Engineer to join our team, specialising in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of lifting and manipulating equipment across key water industry infrastructure. Split between our regional hub in Yate and various customer field sites, this role offers an excellent balance of workshop precision and hands-on site problem-solving. You will act as a trusted technical expert, ensuring equipment safety, operational compliance, and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Overhaul: Clean, service, repair, overhaul, and test specialised tools, jigs, fixtures, and lifting/manipulating equipment in line with customer schedules and OEM specifications.
- Compliance Inspections: Conduct thorough visual inspections and formal LOLER inspections both in-house and on-site, accurately recording defects and executing necessary remedial works.
- Asset Installation: Fit, test, and commission davit sockets and fall arrest points to guarantee safety at height.
- Technical Consultation: Assess site-specific challenges and proactively recommend bespoke lifting solutions to meet client needs.
- Quality Assurance: Adhere strictly to company quality management systems, delivering all services with a high level of skill, care, and diligence.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Attend performance and review meetings with management and clients to ensure high levels of service satisfaction.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience:
- Time-served Service Engineer with a strong background in mechanical or lifting engineering.
- Proven experience conducting LOLER inspections and working with lifting/manipulating assets.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical customer drawings and OEM schematics.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
Skills & Attributes:
- Autonomy & Adaptability: Highly self-motivated, capable of working independently in the field or collaboratively within a team, with a flexible approach to changing environments.
- Communication & Presentation: Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable explaining technical concepts and solutions to clients.
- Organisation: Excellent administrative capability with experience managing deadlines under pressure while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- IT Literacy: Proficient in standard IT systems, particularly MS Office (including Excel).
Desirable (Training Provided):
- Knowledge of calibration systems.
- Valid certificates for CSCS, Working at Height, Confined Spaces, Thorough Examination of Lifting and Manipulating Equipment, and MEWP operation (highly advantageous, though full training will be invested in the right candidate).
