About the role
Cormac operates their own in-house vehicle and plant maintenance workshops within three locations across Cornwall. We are seeking an HGV technician to cover the service, inspection, MOT preparation and maintenance of primarily commercial vehicles. The bulk of our work is the maintenance of the Councils’ extensive and varied vehicle fleet ranging from cars to 32 tonne LGVs. We also support the fleets of a number of external companies who have varied vehicle portfolios, and this is a key growth area of our business.
Flexibility and adaptability are required to meet customer expectations and service demands; this will include working overtime and participation in an on-call rota. The workload is very varied and will cover electrical tasks and fault diagnosis. You will be required to complete documentation in an accurate and timely manner and abide by our zero harm health and safety policy. This role offers the successful applicant a very diverse and interesting workload.
About you
The successful candidate will be qualified to NVQ 3 or equivalent and be able to evidence competency for this role. You are expected to provide your own comprehensive tool kit in order to carry out the role (CORMAC provide large tools and equipment). You will work as part of a team, be prepared to work overtime and be part of an on-call rota. You will possess good communication skills, have good levels of numeracy and literacy and be competent in handling documentation. A full UK LGV driving licence is desirable and competence in electronic fault diagnosis will be an advantage.
