We’re looking for people with grounds maintenance qualifications/experience to join the team. But it’s your approach that’s most important – we need talented people who can work with others and who want to make a difference!
As part of our Estate Rangers team, you’ll be working with colleagues across Cornwall Housing, delivering services to care for our neighbourhoods, improving the look and feel of our estates for everyone. We want you to care about where you work and support our communities, so you’ll be about and about working on our estates and listening to residents to improve the places they live. You’ll work alongside our housing and asset management teams to resolve issues and represent Cornwall Housing at all times.
What you’ll be doing:
- Keeping our estates and communal areas clean, safe and well-maintained.
- Acting on customer service requests, keeping your eyes and ears open and going the extra mile where you see residents might need some help and support.
- Getting involved in projects to improve the look and feel of our estates.
- Helping us keep residents and you safe by following agreed practices for work, recording checks on equipment or assets, and letting us know about incidents or fire risks you’ve seen.
- Inspecting our trees and communal areas to report fly-tipping, incidents of crime, graffiti and nuisance or getting involved in events which help prevent this.
What you’ll need to be a success:
- A full Driving Licence that enables you to drive in the UK.
- You’ve got qualifications in basic tree inspections or using ground maintenance equipment like strimmers or leaf blowers. If you haven’t, don’t let this put you off, we’ll sort this for you - tools and training will be provided.
- You’ve worked in a team, ideally one that’s been out and about supporting our neighbourhoods or communities so you can manage the physical demands of the job in all weathers.
- You’re someone who likes working with people, talking to them face-to-face and you know what it means to provide good service to our residents.
- You can manage yourself, always keeping safety in mind and you’re not afraid to say something if you see it’s not right.
- You’ve got common sense, so if you’re inspecting something you know what to record and will make the right decision. We’ll show you what to look at, you make the choice and log it.
Our offer to you:
- Salary: £27,018.00 per year
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Base: Bodmin/Wadebridge area - North East Cornwall area. This is a mobile role operating in the areas stated (a van is available for work use), plus hybrid working from office and home as needed to complete admin tasks, with Chy Trevail in Bodmin, as your official base.
What you’ll get from us in return is:
- A challenge like no other – Cornwall is unique and so are we!
- A highly competitive total package that includes a decent salary (with annual negotiations with recognised trade unions for cost-of-living salary increases), Local Government Pension Scheme, 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 31 days plus BHs after 5 years’ continuous service) with the option to buy more, family friendly policies, and our flexible approach to work.
- A senior management team who will listen and support you, and encourage your ideas and creative thinking.
- Investment and support in your continuous learning and development.
- Access to discounts on entertainment, shops, wellbeing and travel through our online portal.
- And a chance to really make your mark.
