Job summary
To provide senior operational support to the Health & Safety Manager in the delivery of the company’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) framework across the business. The Senior SHEQ Advisor will support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of SHEQ standards across multiple contracts and operational sites. This role requires regular travel across operational sites. Overall accountability for the company’s SHEQ strategy, statutory compliance and governance remains with the Health & Safety Manager. This role is focused on supporting delivery, providing technical expertise and strengthening operational compliance through visible site engagement.
Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Support
- Support the Health & Safety Manager in implementing company SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Provide operational advice and guidance to managers and supervisors in line with company standards.
- Conduct site inspections and compliance reviews as directed by the Health & Safety Manager.
- Assist in accident and incident investigations, analysing trends and escalating significant findings where appropriate to manage risk proactively.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) from others to ensure alignment with company policy.
- Creating bespoke RAMS for one-off situations.
- Support the monitoring of compliance with relevant health & safety legislation.
- Mitigating risks at a corporate level.
- Assist in maintaining ISO management systems under the direction of the Health & Safety Manager.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation and processes are maintained.
- Monitor environmental compliance requirements and support improvement initiatives.
- Assist in managing corrective action plans and non-conformance processes and keeping accurate and detailed records.
- Provide SHEQ input into new contract mobilisation activities as required.
- Support operational teams in embedding SHEQ requirements into day-to-day service delivery.
- Escalate emerging risks or compliance concerns to the Health & Safety Manager in a timely manner.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- NEBOSH Tech IOSH as a minimum
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) or working towards
- IOSH Membership (Tech IOSH or above)
- ISO Auditing experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience within a multi-site operational environment (e.g., FM, engineering, construction, utilities or similar).
- Experience supporting or leading ISO management systems.
- Experience conducting audits and compliance reviews.
- Experience supporting complex incident investigations.
- Experience in maintaining quality management systems.
- Experience in liaising with appropriate bodies (HSE, EHO) where required.
- Experience in reviewing and maintaining policies and procedures and creating new operational documents when required.
Desirable
- CMIOSH or NVQ Level 5
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Fire safety qualification
- Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA)
- Experience supporting contract mobilisation.
- Experience within public sector or service-led contracts.
- Experience contributing to tender submissions.
