Job Summary
Due to ongoing growth, Corrigenda is seeking a dedicated mechanical maintenance operative to carry out tasks on our Hampshire County Council contract. This will require working on a range of properties such as offices, schools, care homes, and libraries across the eastern half of Hampshire, including Winchester, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Petersfield, and Havant. This is an ideal opportunity for those looking to enter the building services industry or develop their current skills further; the position will come with a tailored personal training plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on thermostatic mixer valves to TMV3 standard.
- Various tasks in relation to legionella management on site such as descaling spray taps.
- Reactive maintenance on hot and cold‑water systems (depending on experience).
- Cleaning kitchen canopies and extractor fans.
- Weekly sprinkler testing.
- Maintain a safe working environment for yourself, other engineers, end users on site, and the general public at all times.
- Ability to work effectively on your own or as part of a team to ensure we meet our client contract expectations.
- Collaborate with other engineers and site staff to arrange site access to required working areas.
- Contact suppliers for replacement parts and cost information.
- Adopt a flexible approach to supporting other resources as required.
- Perform any other tasks required by the company within your skill set/experience.
Knowledge, experience and skills
Essential
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
- Be able to operate SMART devices and complete electronic documentation
- Full driving licence
- Pass DBS / Police background checks for working in schools
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 / 3 plumbing
- City and Guilds qualification (or equivalent)
- Legionella awareness
- Unvented water systems qualification
- A good knowledge and understanding of hot and cold‑water systems
- Experience in a similar role and working sectors
