We’re partnering with an established international freight forwarder to appoint a Business Development Manager focused on developing European Road and Ocean Freight business throughout London and the South East. The role will suit an experienced freight sales professional with strong knowledge of the European market and a proven ability to win new import and export business.
You’ll have access to a broad range of international freight solutions, allowing you to develop customers across multiple modes while building a profitable territory.
The Role
- Develop new European road and ocean freight business across the South East
- Target importers, exporters, manufacturers, retailers and distributors
- Generate and manage a strong pipeline of new opportunities
- Sell European road freight solutions including groupage, part loads and full loads
- Develop FCL and LCL ocean freight opportunities
- Build relationships with senior logistics and supply chain decision-makers
- Conduct regular customer visits and manage opportunities through to close
- Work closely with operations and pricing teams on commercial solutions
- Cross-sell additional freight, customs and logistics services
- Maintain CRM activity, forecasts and customer profiles
- Achieve agreed revenue and gross profit targets
The Person
- Previous experience in freight forwarding business development
- Strong knowledge of European road freight and/or ocean freight
- Ideally experienced across both road and ocean
- Good understanding of FTL, LTL/groupage and European freight movements
- FCL/LCL ocean freight knowledge would be highly advantageous
- Proven track record of winning profitable new accounts
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills
- Confident dealing with senior-level customers
- Self-motivated with a strong new-business mentality
- Full UK driving licence
