We are recruiting for a Materials Engineer to support a major energy infrastructure project near Peterhead. This role will focus heavily on a large-scale earthworks package, ensuring materials meet required specifications, standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out laboratory and on-site testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt
- Interpret results and produce technical reports
- Ensure compliance with UKAS standards and project specifications
- Advise site teams on material suitability and performance
- Assist in resolving materials-related issues
- Support earthworks quality control processes
- Maintain accurate testing, calibration and inspection records
- Contribute to RAMS and quality documentation
- Support environmental and safety compliance
- Work closely with site engineers and senior materials staff
- Attend project meetings and report on material performance
Requirements
- Experience in materials testing within construction or infrastructure
- Knowledge of UKAS processes and relevant British Standards
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Confident leading audits and supporting junior staff
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong health & safety awareness
Desirable:
- Professional body membership (e.g. ICE)
- SSSTS qualification
- Experience across large-scale civils or earthworks projects
