A Senior Ecologist opportunity has arisen with a well-regarded environmental consultancy based in Kent. Could this be the role where your ecological expertise makes a real, lasting impact on biodiversity outcomes?

The Senior Ecologist will take the lead across a varied portfolio of survey work, habitat assessment, and ecological reporting. Day-to-day responsibilities include carrying out protected species and botanical surveys, designing habitat restoration and creation schemes, and producing BNG assessments. The Senior Ecologist will also undertake Ecological Impact Assessments, manage projects, support mitigation licence applications, and provide guidance to more junior members of the team.

This is an established, independently run ecological consultancy with a strong regional presence across the South East of England. The team is small, close-knit, and genuinely committed to delivering high-quality conservation outcomes for a diverse client base.

What’s required:

  • Experience in an ecology consultancy setting, with a relevant graduate or postgraduate degree, plus active CIEEM membership
  • Experience conducting a wide range of habitat and field surveys across varied project scales, including the ability to interpret and present findings through professional reports such as PEAs and EcIAs
  • Having one or more protected species survey licences would be a big plus
  • Solid working knowledge of UK planning legislation and ecological policy, and hands-on experience with UK Habs and BNG metric reporting
