Principal Mechanical Engineer, Nuclear, COR7349
As a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer, the Principal Mechanical Engineer will take complete ownership of projects relating to the delivery of world class technology solutions, such as handling systems in complex hazardous environments. In a client-facing role, including travelling to nuclear sites and facilities across the UK and internationally, the Principal Mechanical Engineer is expected to take responsibility for the design and delivery of projects, including the specification, design development, detail design, and documentation, as well as design change management and conducting risk assessments.

What\βs required to be successful in this Principal Mechanical Engineer role?
- Proven experience within mechanical engineering β a candidate comfortable designing bearing and motor/gearbox systems, rotating and linear machines, etc.
- Competent with hand calculations of stress systems and dynamic machine design performance, working from first principles
- Competent with CAD and PLM system usage, with a preference for SolidWorks
- Familiar with FEA and complex analyses using Ansys/Workbench
- A familiarity with mechanical handling systems β ideally robotics and mechatronics β would be advantageous, as would any experience gained from within the nuclear sector
