Senior Applied AI Engineer, Agentic Systems, Go, Distributed Architecture, COR7709
A Senior Applied AI Engineer opportunity has emerged with a fast-moving internal team at a major enterprise software company. This is not a role about bolting a chatbot onto existing software, it is about rethinking how intelligence is applied to legacy systems at their core. Could this be the engineering challenge you have been waiting for?
The Role
The Senior Applied AI Engineer will take ownership of the architecture and engineering rigour for a small, flat team building something genuinely new. In the first phase, you will help deliver an intelligence layer on top of long-established database infrastructure, making foundational decisions about how work is distributed across agents, how concurrent changes are safely isolated and reconciled, and how the combined output is verified. You will design the evaluation frameworks, regression checks, and drift detection that determine whether an agentic workflow is ready to scale.
The Company
This is a well-established, enterprise software business operating globally across sectors such as manufacturing, asset management, and field service operations. Despite its scale, the team you would be joining operates with an internal-startup culture, the expectation is that this team's approach will eventually shape how engineering is done across the wider organisation, making this a genuinely trailblazing position for the right person.
The role is hybrid remote working.
What experience does the Senior Applied AI Engineer need?
-
A strong background in production software engineering, with meaningful hands‑on experience building systems that use LLM agents or tool‑using components
-
Solid grounding in Go and/or JavaScript/React, with comfort working across distributed systems, containerised environments, and CI/CD pipelines
-
The ability to design and own evaluation frameworks, including regression testing and measurement approaches for agentic workflows, and to communicate architectural decisions clearly to peers
-
A STEM degree from a university, alongside the curiosity, agency, and drive to move beyond conventional approaches and tackle problems that ordinarily require far larger teams
