The Role
The Chemist will play a central part in the day-to-day running of a hazardous waste transfer facility, supporting the safe receipt, handling, testing, storage and dispatch of incoming waste materials. You will carry out sampling and quality analysis across vehicle and storage tanks, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, and keep accurate records in line with site permits and regulatory requirements. The role also involves cross-departmental collaboration with Operations, Compliance, Technical and Commercial teams, and you may be called upon to oversee site activities in the absence of the Site Supervisor. Working in all outdoor conditions is part of the role, so a practical and adaptable approach is essential.

What experience does the Chemist need?

Strong educational background in Chemistry, alongside solid IT literacy

Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail, good numerical skills, and clear written and verbal communication.

Experience in a hazardous waste, chemical or manufacturing environment is desirable, as is familiarity with ADR requirements and ISO quality management systems.

A full UK driving licence is required; and prior experience managing or guiding others on site would be advantageous.
