Offered as an initial 3-month contract within IR35, the contract can be offered on either a fully-remote basis or hybrid, with offices in South Oxfordshire.
The Role
The Senior Software Engineer will be embedded within a cross-functional engineering team, working closely with researchers, systems engineers and other software engineers. You will be expected to take ownership of defined areas of work, taking relatively high-level requirements and turning them into robust, working solutions. This could involve designing and developing Python-based software, integrating with hardware and network infrastructure, developing real-time streaming solutions, or building tooling to support research, testing and evaluation.
Alongside strong core software engineering capability, the company is particularly interested in engineers who bring experience in one or both of the following areas:
- Camera, Network & Hardware Integration
- Integration with CCTV or camera systems
- Working with streaming protocols such as RTSP and ONVIF, as well as HTTPS and TCP
- Practical understanding of network engineering and high-bandwidth streaming
- Developing and deploying software to hardware in operational environments
- Video Streaming & Edge Analytics
- Experience developing or supporting real-time video streaming and processing
- Developing software for edge deployment
- Experience with NVIDIA DeepStream is highly desirable
- Familiarity with GStreamer would also be beneficial
The Company
This is an established technology company based in South East England, working on a vision-based monitoring product for use in clinical environments. They operate across research and engineering disciplines, with a team culture that values autonomy, technical rigour, and close collaboration. The nature of their work requires the highest standards of integrity, given that their solutions are deployed in settings involving vulnerable individuals.
What experience does the Senior Software Engineer need?
- Demonstrable expertise in Python, Linux, and Docker across real-world production or research environments
- A proven record of completing technical projects independently, delivering to specification and on schedule, with the confidence to take a loose brief and drive it through to a finished outcome
- Experience with camera/CCTV integration, network engineering, video streaming or edge analytics would be particularly valuable
- Experience with RTSP, ONVIF, NVIDIA DeepStream and/or GStreamer would be advantageous
So What's Next?
If you are a Senior Software Engineer with strong Python, Linux and Docker experience, and have additional experience with camera integration, networked hardware, video streaming or edge-based systems, we'd be keen to hear from you.
