A CNC Programmer opportunity has arisen with an established UK-based engineering business, offering the chance to work across both R&D and manufacturing on a varied range of precision components. The Role

The CNC Programmer will take ownership of programming, setting up, and operating 3-axis and 5-axis milling centres to produce high-precision components across a diverse range of materials. You will work in a collaborative environment, liaising closely with R&D and manufacturing colleagues to support all machining-related activity, provide feedback on component manufacturability, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. You will also use simulation software to digitally validate toolpaths ahead of first-off machining, and ensure appropriate work holding, metrology, and safe working practices are followed throughout.

What experience does the CNC Programmer need?

  • Extensive experience working within a machine shop environment, with demonstrable expertise in both 3-axis and 5-axis milling, ideally including familiarity with SMED methodologies and zero-point work holding
  • Solid working knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as MasterCAM, SolidWorks, or Vericut, alongside experience with Fanuc or Haas control systems and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to a high standard
  • Experience working to micron-level tolerances, with the ability to validate components using appropriate metrology tools and techniques
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently, contribute positively to cross-department initiatives, and uphold a strong commitment to quality, safety, and 5S standards
