Job Purpose

To supervise the delivery of heating service, maintenance, and repair works across allocated contracts, ensuring engineers operate safely, compliantly, and efficiently while meeting client KPIs and delivering high-quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise heating maintenance and repair works across client properties and major contracts, including gas, renewables, oil, and solid fuel systems
  • Represent CCS professionally at all times when interacting with clients, residents, and colleagues
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Gas Safe requirements, industry best practise and company procedures
  • Support the development of engineers through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the day-to-day delivery of contract operations
  • Support and develop apprentices across all elements of their training portfolio
  • Resolve technical issues by analysing data, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions in collaboration with the Operations Manager
  • Ensure contract KPIs and quality standards are consistently achieved across all works
  • Drive and maintain 100% compliance across all fuel types and operational processes
  • Deliver high-quality service to clients and residents, ensuring professionalism and respect at all times
  • Liaise with residents and clients regarding ongoing and completed works
  • Ensure all operatives work safely and in full compliance with company and industry standards
  • Manage team assets and equipment, ensuring all tools are calibrated, maintained, and fit for purpose
  • Manage engineer van stock levels, including seasonal adjustments and stock control
  • Plan and manage engineer call-out rotas, including participation in escalation and out-of-hours support
  • Review and quality check all documentation submitted by operatives, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure all appointments are attended and that residents/clients are kept informed at all times
  • Stay up to date with industry legislation and best practice, sharing updates through toolbox talks and team briefings
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings and company briefings
  • Carry out regular audits of engineers in line with company procedures and industry best practice
  • Support recruitment activities and manage HR processes within the team, including absence, performance, and disciplinary matters
  • Review parts usage and repeat visits, working with engineers to drive continuous improvement
  • Attend complex, complaint, and multi-person jobs where required to ensure service delivery meets contract expectations
  • Undertake any additional duties reasonably required by senior management

Skills/Qualifications

  • ACS qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in relevant trade
  • Unvented hot water systems (desirable)
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience working within social housing on gas/renewable maintenance contracts
  • Experience managing engineers and dealing directly with residents and clients
  • Good IT skills, including use of mobile PDA systems
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • DBS check required
  • Experience within the renewables sector (desirable)
  • Energy efficiency qualification (e.g. C&G) or equivalent experience
