About the role:
As Senior Energy Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in managing Corona Energy’s risk, pricing, and strategic decision-making capabilities. You will bring expert knowledge and technical insight into one or more key areas within the department. Whether your expertise lies in market risk, pricing, modelling, or optimisation, you will shape commercial outcomes and contribute to the wider business success.

The areas of focus for this role are:
- Portfolio Market Risk
- Evaluate and manage energy market risks across gas and power portfolios.
- Develop and execute hedging strategies aligned with risk appetite.
- Produce short- and long-term consumption forecasts.
- Ensure governance compliance in market risk controls.
- Customer Optimisation
- Deliver tailored energy market services to key customers.
- Produce market insights and risk analysis to support pricing strategies.
- Provide key inputs for flexible pricing, forecasting, and billing.
- Gas & Power Pricing
- Lead pricing strategies and maintain cost forecast models.
- Drive pricing process improvements and margin control analysis.
- Collaborate with Finance and Sales to support accurate pricing and tenders.
- Data, Modelling, Automation & Change
- Own model development, optimisation, and automation efforts.
- Improve decision-making processes and reduce operational risk.
- Deliver robust, insightful analysis to support business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Forecast and analyse commodity and non-commodity risks.
- Deliver accurate customer forecasts and cost inputs for quoting.
- Drive pricing model development, risk evaluation, and hedging strategy design.
- Provide position reports and analytics to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the introduction of new systems and analytical capabilities.
- Ensure all models and tools meet governance and control standards.
- Complete BAU tasks, peer reviews, and audits as required.
- Support sales teams with pricing inputs and tender responses.
Skills & knowledge required:
- Strong coding skills (Python, SQL, VBA, R) and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Deep understanding of energy market risk, pricing, and trading mechanics.
- Expertise in data transformation, modelling, and analytics.
- Familiarity with pricing mechanisms, forecasting, and market behaviour.
- Ability to simplify complex issues and present actionable insights.
- Process mapping, risk assessment, and procedural writing skills.
- Proven experience in energy risk management, pricing, or trading (supplier, asset owner, or trading house).
- Demonstrated ownership of BAU processes in risk, quoting, or portfolio management.
- Involved in the design and deployment of modelling tools or pricing systems.
- Experience supporting strategic decisions through high-quality analysis.
