The Role

As SME New Business Team Leader , you will play a critical role in driving sales growth and retention. You will lead, motivate, and develop a dynamic SME new business sales team, ensuring exceptional performance and smooth operations across the sales lifecycle. You will work cross-functionally to deliver company-wide goals while promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

People Leadership

  • Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team
  • Foster a solution-focused environment with a strong customer-first ethos
  • Motivate individuals to consistently meet and exceed sales targets
  • Support recruitment and performance management processes
  • Represent Corona Energy at events and key meetings when needed
  • Investigate and resolve escalated customer and broker issues

Sales & Strategy

  • Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities
  • Lead the delivery of SME sales promotions and strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with TPI (Third Party Intermediary) teams on sales strategies and feedback
  • Ensure alignment of SME sales activity with broader commercial objectives

Operational Management

  • Manage day-to-day performance across the SME new business team
  • Oversee key sales processes from tender through to billing, reducing risk exposure
  • Drive continuous improvement of departmental processes and systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across sales leadership and other departments
  • Contribute to wider business planning and strategic meetings

Reporting & Analysis

  • Track and report on key performance indicators daily
  • Contribute to stakeholder and management reports
  • Identify underperformance trends and take corrective action as needed

Skills and Experience required:

  • Proven knowledge of the UK gas and power market
  • A track record in leading high-performing SME sales teams
  • Experience in managing fast-paced sales environments and achieving KPIs
  • Deep understanding of sales processes and commercial metrics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels
  • High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and flexible approach
  • Willingness to occasionally work additional hours when required
