About the Role

As a Graduate Energy Risk Analyst, you will join our Strategy, Pricing, Risk, and Reporting team, gaining exposure to the core commercial and risk management operations. You will gain experience by developing technical and analytical expertise across several focus areas and be supported by our experienced analysts within the team.

The area of focus for this role are:

  • Portfolio Market Risk
    • Monitor and manage energy market risks in our gas and power portfolios
    • Contribute to the development and execution of hedging strategies
    • Forecast energy consumption for quoting and strategic planning
    • Help ensure governance compliance in managing market exposure
  • Customer Optimisation
    • Support the delivery of market optimisation services for key clients
    • Provide market insights and analysis to internal stakeholders
    • Collaborate with pricing teams to ensure accurate costing for flexible contracts
  • Gas and Power Pricing
    • Maintain and enhance pricing systems and cost forecasting models
    • Work closely with Finance to track gross margins and financial performance
    • Assist Sales in pricing flexible contracts and tender submissions
  • Data, Modelling, Automation & Change
    • Develop and maintain analytical models and code to support risk and pricing functions
    • Help improve operational efficiency and reduce cost-to-serve
    • Support business decisions through data-driven insights and risk analysis

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate data for pricing, risk, and forecasting activities
  • Perform scenario and simulation-based analysis of energy market trends
  • Participate in new product launches, pricing system improvements, and operational audits
  • Support senior analysts in key projects and BAU tasks
  • Deliver high-quality reports and insights for customers and internal stakeholders

What we are looking for:

  • A recent graduate (or soon-to-be) with a degree in a numerate discipline such as Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Comfortable working with data and tools like Excel; experience with Python, SQL, or other similar programmes
  • An interest in the energy market and a desire to build a career in commercial or risk analysis.
  • Team focused, proactive, and keen to learn.
