About the Role

We are looking for HR Business Partner/ HR Generalist to play a key role in supporting our customer‑facing operation. This hands‑on operational role requires a strong focus on employee relations, performance management, capability development and colleague retention. This is an office-based, Monday – Friday role located in Coventry with travel to Watford when required. This newly created HR position will be the first point of contact for line managers and leaders and offer a pragmatic approach to enable leaders to make confident, consistent and fair decisions. You’ll join a small, collaborative People team, working closely with another HR Business Partner, HR Administration, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development. This role is ideal for someone that is a Senior HR Advisor or HR Generalist looking to develop their career in HR. Solid influencing skills, resilience and the ability to build trusted relationships are key requirements to be successful.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations & People Support: Provide clear, practical HR advice across a range of ER matters, ensuring fairness and compliance. Support managers with performance, capability and absence issues, driving early and effective resolution. Advise on policy, process, best practice and employment law, engaging external legal partners when required.
  • Partnering, Coaching & Stakeholder Support: Act as a visible HR presence on-site, offering timely and pragmatic support. Build trusted relationships with operational leaders, providing constructive challenge where needed. Identify manager development needs and partner with L&D to strengthen leadership capability. Support monthly Leadership People & Capability Meetings with insights and metrics.
  • Onboarding, Induction & Colleague Experience: Host new starter inductions for your client group. Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth onboarding. Support initiatives that enhance wellbeing, engagement and team culture.
  • Workforce Planning & Development: Contribute to workforce planning and talent discussions, identifying capability gaps and future needs. Collaborate with TA and L&D to shape development plans within your client group. Provide insight into people trends and retention challenges.
  • Data, Insight & Continuous Improvement: Use people data to identify trends, opportunities and risks. Provide meaningful analysis to inform decisions and support operational priorities. Contribute to the development and embedding of HR processes and improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven HR Business Partner or strong HR Generalist experience within an operational environment
  • Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels
  • Employee relations expertise across performance, capability, attendance and complex casework.
  • Confident coaching, influencing and constructively challenging managers.
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working at pace with competing priorities.
  • Excellent relationship‑building skills at all levels.
  • Skilled in using people data to inform decision‑making.
  • Pragmatic, agile and commercially aware and able to apply sound judgement.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player and quick learner.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting operational, customer‑facing or multi‑site teams.
  • Experience with onboarding or induction processes.
  • Exposure to evolving HR frameworks or developing HR functions.
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience).
