Based on‑site in Coventry, you will be the first point of HR support for managers, many of whom are developing their leadership capability. You’ll provide pragmatic, commercially minded HR advice that enables leaders to make confident, consistent and fair decisions.

You’ll join a small, collaborative People team, working closely with another HR Business Partner, HR Administration, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong judgement, resilience and the ability to build trusted relationships and coach managers effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations & People Support
    • Provide clear, practical HR advice across a range of ER matters, ensuring fairness and compliance.
    • Support managers with performance, capability and absence issues, driving early and effective resolution.
    • Advise on policy, process, best practice and employment law, engaging external legal partners when required.
  • Partnering, Coaching & Stakeholder Support
    • Act as a visible HR presence on-site, offering timely and pragmatic support.
    • Build trusted relationships with operational leaders, providing constructive challenge where needed.
    • Identify manager development needs and partner with L&D to strengthen leadership capability.
    • Support monthly Leadership People & Capability Meetings with insights and metrics.
  • Onboarding, Induction & Colleague Experience
    • Host new starter inductions for your client group.
    • Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth onboarding.
    • Support initiatives that enhance wellbeing, engagement and team culture.
  • Workforce Planning & Development
    • Contribute to workforce planning and talent discussions, identifying capability gaps and future needs.
    • Collaborate with TA and L&D to shape development plans within your client group.
    • Provide insight into people trends and retention challenges.
    • Use people data to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
    • Provide meaningful analysis to inform decisions and support operational priorities.
    • Contribute to the development and embedding of HR processes and improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven HR Business Partner or strong HR Generalist experience within an operational environment.
  • Strong employee relations expertise across performance, capability, attendance and complex casework.
  • Confident coaching, influencing and constructively challenging managers.
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working at pace with competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills at all levels.
  • Skilled in using people data to inform decision‑making.
  • Pragmatic, commercially aware and able to apply sound judgement.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player and quick learner.
  • Experience with onboarding or induction processes.
  • Exposure to evolving HR frameworks or developing HR functions.
