Waking Night Support Worker
Location: Constantine, near Falmouth, Cornwall
Hours: 36 hours per week - Waking Nights
Pay: £16.00 per hour
Contract: Temp to Perm
Agency: Cornwall Staff Agency for the first 12 weeks, followed by a permanent contract directly with the service
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Waking Night Support Worker to join a small, specialist care team supporting a 27-year-old woman in her own home in Constantine, just outside Falmouth.
The lady we support is autistic and experiences generalised anxiety. She is currently in hospital following a prolonged period of declining food, fluids and medication, and is expected to return home shortly.
This is an important opportunity to provide consistent, person-centred support and help her feel safe, settled and comfortable as she transitions back home.
The Role
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will provide support throughout the night, ensuring the individual's safety and wellbeing while promoting dignity, independence and choice.
You will work as part of a supportive team and will be expected to build a trusting relationship with the person you support, following agreed care and support plans and responding appropriately to her individual needs.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Compassionate, patient and genuinely caring
- Calm and reassuring, particularly when supporting someone experiencing anxiety
- Reliable and able to work independently during waking night shifts
- Confident following care and support plans
- Committed to providing person-centred support
- A good communicator with a professional and respectful approach
- A driver with access to a vehicle is essential
Previous experience supporting autistic adults or individuals with complex support needs would be advantageous, although the right attitude, values and willingness to learn are equally important.
