Position Details
Role: Sous Chef - Temporary
Location: Newquay, Cornwall
Rate: £19.00 per hour
Hours: Varied mix of straight and split shifts, including breakfast
Contract: Ongoing temporary assignment
Reason for role: Temporary cover until permanent recruitment is completed
Accommodation: Live-in accommodation available
Start: As soon as possible
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Support and supervise the Chef de Partie team
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation
- Assist with stock control, ordering and general kitchen organisation
- Ensure all Health & Safety and Food Hygiene standards are maintained
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods
- Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working as a Sous Chef or Head Chef
- Experience within a busy hotel or high-volume kitchen environment
- Ability to remain calm and organised during busy services
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A reliable and positive team player
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Passion for producing high-quality food
- Flexibility to work a mixture of straight and split shifts
- Available for an immediate temporary assignment

Live-in accommodation is available, making this an ideal opportunity for chefs looking for temporary work in Cornwall without needing to arrange accommodation separately.
Important: This is a Temporary Position
Please note that this is not a permanent vacancy. The assignment is expected to run on an ongoing basis until the hotel's permanent Sous Chef recruitment has been completed.
