CMA is seeking a Freelance Job Coach to provide training and support to interns with barriers to learning, including SEND, NEETs, and their families, on a Supported Internship Programme across Cornwall. The role ensures intern success during workplace rotations and helps secure job opportunities within and outside the host employer for young people aged 16‑24 with SEND who have an Education Health Care (EHC) plan.
Contract:
- Flexible schedule – we will endeavour to work around your availability
- Weekdays only – working hours outside of 9 am – 5 pm may be required on occasion
- In‑person delivery in Cornwall, with some online sessions possibly required
- Must have enhanced DBS and recent Safeguarding & Prevent training or be willing to obtain
Remuneration: £15 per hour, £12 per hour for travel time and 45p per mile
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively support young people with learning difficulties and disabilities (ages 16‑24) in the Supported Internship Programme, providing job search skills and workplace support.
- Provide ongoing support for interns across various employment sites in Cornwall.
- Continuously assess and collaborate with each young person to create an adaptable, personalized vocational profile and individual learning plan.
- Assist learners with travel arrangements and arrange workplace visits before they start.
- Deliver individualized support at host businesses, including job coaching, placement identification, job analysis, and matching activities.
- Support employers to make reasonable adjustments and reduce barriers for young people with SEND.
- Collaborate with employers to understand roles and break tasks into appropriate steps; create supporting materials such as job descriptions and task lists.
- Monitor learner performance and provide timely feedback and prompts.
- Maintain necessary paperwork and documentation using IT systems, track qualifications, update individual learning plans, and produce risk assessments.
- Help learners develop job skills, write CVs, and apply for roles or placements.
- Coordinate with other Job Coaches and daily meetings with the internship tutor to prioritize workload and discuss progress.
- Demonstrate innovative employer engagement through marketing and promotion to secure paid employment opportunities.
- Develop partnerships with local employers and link with local Job Centres.
- Provide continuing support and guidance, ensuring progression after employment starts.
- Train and coach host businesses and external employers to promote the benefits of employing people with SEND.
- Comply with company policies: Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, and any relevant policies.
- Perform other duties as required by the CMA CIC team.
- Attend caseload reviews and standardization meetings with the Training Delivery and Quality Manager when required.
- Always act in accordance with the company’s Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding policies.
