Purpose CMA is seeking a Freelance Job Coach to provide training and support to interns with barriers to learning, including SEND, NEETs, and their families, on a Supported Internship Programme across Cornwall. The role ensures intern success during workplace rotations and helps secure job opportunities within and outside the host employer for young people aged 16‑24 with SEND who have an Education Health Care (EHC) plan.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating supporting materials such as job descriptions and task lists.
  • Monitoring learner performance and providing timely feedback and prompts.
  • Maintaining necessary paperwork and documentation using IT systems, tracking qualifications, updating individual learning plans, and producing risk assessments.
  • Helping learners develop job skills, write CVs, and apply for roles or placements.
  • Coordinating with other Job Coaches and daily meetings with the internship tutor to prioritise workload and discuss progress.
  • Demonstrating innovative employer engagement through marketing and promotion to secure paid employment opportunities.
  • Developing partnerships with local employers and linking with local Job Centres.
  • Providing continuing support and guidance, ensuring progression after employment starts.
  • Training and coaching host businesses and external employers to promote the benefits of employing people with SEND.
