The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Modelling Graduate Programme, starting in September 2025. This 16-month programme will provide the successful graduate with a comprehensive introduction to energy modelling and the skills and knowledge required to build a successful career.
From day one, you will join our global modelling team. You will learn how to develop a credible forecasting service based on the best information available and tailored to help customers navigate the energy market transition. You will be at the forefront of analysis and research into challenges and opportunities for new technologies and markets, how we balance and prioritise policy goals, and how to optimally provide the needs of consumers of the future. You will gain access to Cornwall Insight’s best-in-class forecasting and modelling tools, comprehensive knowledge and research resources, as well as some of the industry’s leading experts.
During the programme you will receive comprehensive technical energy market modelling training covering energy market context and specialist modelling software and techniques. Undertaking a directed deep-dive modelling study will allow you to put this knowledge into practice and in parallel you will also receive our training in core professional skills.
Throughout the programme, you will work with colleagues across the business to develop a thorough understanding of our operations. This includes a four-month placement in our Consultancy team, where you will gain first-hand experience of how bespoke modelling work is managed and delivered to clients.
What do I need?
Energy market modelling is a broad and diverse field that requires a keen interest in the energy sector and its relationship to the wider economy and environmental objectives. You should be able to interpret high-level concepts across multiple disciplines such as engineering, finance, and economics.
As a modeller, you will likely be motivated by solving problems, and able to draw upon creative and innovative thinking. You will be confident in your ability to methodically work through problems independently whilst also being able to collaborate effectively in a team.
In this role you will be utilising computationally intensive simulations to create detailed forecasts. You need to be comfortable handling large data and meticulous in working through modelling processes.

You will be located in the Norwich office for the full duration of the programme.
