We’re looking for a dynamic and hard-working Legal Assistant to join us in this additional role where you will play an important part in supporting the strengthening our legal function, contributing to the protection and wellbeing of children and young people. This is a fixed-term role for up to a year, and an ideal opportunity to get involved with the possibility of a permanent role. About The Role As a Legal Assistant in our Children’s Social Care Team, you will support Lawyers and Senior Lawyers in matters such as care proceedings, Placement Order applications, private law applications, and SEND tribunal appeals. This role offers the chance to develop your career in this challenging but rewarding discipline, with exposure to interesting work that supports your growth. You will also have opportunities to expand into other areas within Children’s Social Care, with full training and support. About You A degree, CILEx qualification, or other relevant legal qualification, or significant practical and theoretical experience, or a keen interest in this area Experience managing a high volume caseload Ability to analyse information and apply relevant legal principles Good communication skills to explain information and legal principles clearly Excellent organisational and time management skills A collaborative approach and commitment to team success Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines What You’ll Get In Return Cornwall Council offers a competitive salary, relocation support if applicable, a defined benefit pension scheme, generous annual leave, an employee health and wellbeing programme, and access to discounts through an employee benefits scheme.
