We are looking for a Floating Support Worker to join the Supported Accommodation Team, within the 16+ and Separated Children Seeking Asylum Service. This post was introduced following the implementation of the Supported Accommodation Regulations (2023).

Job Description

Do you have the motivation, commitment and skills to support 16/17 year old Care Leavers in Supported Accommodation in Cornwall? We are looking for a Floating Support Worker to join the Supported Accommodation Team, within the 16+ and Separated Children Seeking Asylum Service. This post was introduced following the implementation of the Supported Accommodation Regulations (2023).

We are looking for experienced support workers who want to work with young people leaving the care of the Local Authority in Cornwall. The aim is to support young people during their transition from care to independence. This position will be countywide.

You will be working with individual young people in their Supported Accommodation with a view to enabling them to develop self-care and independence skills; enter into and maintain education or training; access health care services; and link in with community resources. The role will focus on providing Children in Care and Care Leavers with safe, suitable and secure homes. You will be member of the team that oversees our training flats and shared houses.

A variety of skills including excellent communication, diplomacy, risk assessment and good time management, alongside the ability to work within agreed standards are required for this post.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a criminal record disclosure check.

Whilst the location/work-base for this role may have been specified our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g., from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.
