About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their ambitions? Do you want to make a real difference every day while working for a college that is committed to inclusion, progression, and opportunity for all? We’re looking for an inspiring, energetic and motivated Employment Coordinator to join our team. This is a key role in supporting learners on our Employment Pathway programmes, including those on Supported Internships, as they prepare for adulthood and the world of work.
As an Employment Coordinator, you will:
- Play a key role in shaping learners’ futures by supporting the Study Programme Manager with recruitment onto Employment Pathway programmes, making sure the right learners find the right opportunities.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with employers, businesses and community providers, opening doors to meaningful work-related opportunities for our learners.
- Ensure every placement is safe and set up for success, completing Placement Suitability Questionnaires (PSQs), health and safety checks and employer briefings.
- Lead the deployment of Job Coaches, making sure learners have the right support in the workplace at the right time.
- Step into a job coaching role yourself for part of your week, working directly alongside learners on placement to build their confidence, workplace skills and independence.
- Champion inclusive employment by overseeing Access to Work funding and guiding employers to make reasonable adjustments in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and Equality Act (2010).
- Collaborate closely with curriculum and support teams, helping learners capture and celebrate their progress and personal development along the way.

Skills & Experience
Applicants must have or be working towards a nationally approved Stage 3 teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent) and have experience working with learners with SEND needs. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate outstanding ability to build working relationships with learners, staff and external agencies, experience and proven record of positive outcomes working with local businesses and/or employers and young people. As the role involves visiting local employers and supporting learners in external placements, a full UK driving licence, business insurance and access to a vehicle are essential. Working hours may occasionally fall outside of the standard college day.
