About the Role

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of A Levels at Cornwall College? As Assistant Principal – A Levels, you will spearhead the development of our A Level curriculum, initially launching at our new state‐of‐the‐art St Austell campus in 2027. You will lead the creation of an outstanding A Level provision, ensuring high standards in teaching, student achievement, and progression. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of education in Cornwall.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the A Level curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • Manage the A Level Curriculum Team, including staff recruitment, development, and performance.
  • Develop an inspiring curriculum that equips students with real‐world skills and prepares them for higher education or employment.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading and teaching A Level subjects, with a proven track record of achieving high performance in both student outcomes and overall curriculum delivery. You will also bring recent leadership experience in further education (FE), particularly in driving quality processes and fostering staff development to meet ambitious standards. A relevant degree and a recognised teaching qualification, such as DET, PGCE, or Certificate of Education, are essential for this role. Above all, you must demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience, ensuring that learners are supported in progressing to their chosen destinations, particularly higher education.
