The Company
Cornish Tin Limited (CTL) is a UK-based exploration company focused on tin and hardrock lithium in Cornwall. Our flagship project is located around the historic Great Wheal Vor mine near Helston, Cornwall – which was one of the richest tin mines in the world during the mid-19th century.
CTL started exploration drilling in 2022 and has completed two successful diamond core drilling programs with discoveries of multiple new high grade tin lodes, which the Company is continuing to explore. CTL has also discovered a new significant lithium field associated with the rare lithium-enriched G5 Tregonning Granite.
The Company won the Exploration Discovery of the Year Award at the UK Mining Conference in Cornwall in June 2024. The Company also won the Exploration Discovery of the Year Award at Resourcing Tomorrow (Mines & Money) in December 2024.
The Role
We are seeking a new Junior Geologist to assist with ongoing fieldwork. This will initially involve assisting with the Company’s upcoming soil sampling program.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Collect and catalogue soil samples by hand and an electric powered auger
· Undertake soil sample processing prior to geochemical analysis
· Carry out geochemical analysis on soil samples
· Undertake field mapping and grab sampling
· Carry out water sampling to assist with the Company’s environmental studies
· Adhere to strict health and safety policies. Full training will be given
Also, there is potential to assist with the Company’s next drilling program in 2025. This would include; core mark-up, logging, photography, sample preparation, core cutting, drill site inspections and general coreshed tasks such as moving and cataloguing core boxes.
Requirements:
· BSc (minimum) in Geology, Earth Science or equivalent
· Have a passion for exploration and mining
· Excel in working in a team and independently
· A good level of fitness. The role will involve walking around steep topography, excavating soil samples by hand and transporting equipment in all weathers
· Previous experience preferable but not essential – full training will be given
· A full UK clean driving licence
