About the role

At Cornish Bakery, we are driven by quality and innovation, creating exceptional products rooted in craft, creativity, and flavour. We’re looking for a Product Developer who can balance creativity in the kitchen with the attention to detail needed to bring products successfully into our bakeries.

You’ll split your time between your local Cornish bakery, working hands‑on with products and continuously improving back‑of‑house processes, and our office in Paulton, collaborating with the wider team and managing project delivery. Travel will also be required for supplier visits and bakery site meetings. This is your chance to play a key role in shaping the future of our innovative product range!

As Product Developer you will

  • Generate innovative ideas and identify opportunities to improve and streamline existing products.
  • Assist our training team with new product rollouts across all sites, including creation of training videos representing the approved concept.
  • Maintain the NPD kitchen and storage areas, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, including completing risk assessments.
  • Organise and lead trials, support smooth development stages, and keep projects on track with energy and precision.
  • Spend a minimum of 3 days per week either in a local bakery or our head office at Paulton.

What we are looking for

  • Passionate about food, flavour, and bakery craft.
  • Combines creativity in product development with strong technical and operational knowledge to launch products successfully into bakeries.
  • Skilled at balancing flavour, quality, and practicality when scaling recipes.
  • Confident creating recipe documentation and training content to ensure consistency across multiple sites.
  • Enjoys working cross‑functionally with procurement, the Bakery Product Process Manager, and operations teams to turn ideas into successful products.
  • Organised, practical, and able to keep projects on track against agreed timelines.

When you join the Cornish Bakery you’ll benefit from

  • 50% discount on food and drink.
  • Up to 33 days of holiday (including bank holidays), pro rata if necessary.
  • Pasty Perks – our bespoke reward system that offers discounts and savings on your favourite brands.
  • Access to our Hardship Fund to help when you really need it.
  • Employer funded health and wellbeing services, with access to a 24/7 GP line, Employee Assistance Programme and discounted gym memberships.
  • Employer funded healthcare cash plan, with money off optical and dental treatment.
  • Paid birthday day off.
  • Member of the shareholder fund (service dependent).
  • Company Sick Pay.
  • A competitive bonus scheme, based on bakery results we achieve together.
  • Plus a few more!
