Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Estimator and Print Buyer role based in Newbury. The role involves supporting the estimating process for print and product orders, preparing accurate costings, and assisting in the creation of quotes for museum retail clients. The Assistant Estimator and Print Buyer will liaise with in-house production, calculating production rates and costs, as well as working with external print suppliers, requesting and comparing estimates, help manage purchase orders, and track production schedules to ensure on-time delivery. Responsibilities include maintaining pricing and supplier records, helping to identify cost efficiencies, and supporting the wider team with administrative tasks related to print procurement and production. The role also requires close collaboration with design, sales, and operations colleagues to ensure high-quality, sustainable products that align with each museum’s brand and budget. Qualifications Experience or strong interest in print estimating, print buying, or production coordination, with the ability to work accurately with numbers and pricing. Proficiency in using spreadsheets and business software for costings, data entry, and record-keeping, with good attention to detail and organization. Effective communication and relationship-building skills for working with suppliers and internal teams, including clear written and verbal communication. Ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset. Understanding or interest in sustainable sourcing, printing processes, and materials, ideally aligned with FSC® and other environmental standards. Prior experience in print, packaging, retail merchandising, or a related field is beneficial; a relevant qualification in business, print, or production management is an advantage.
