Looking for a part-time job that's anything but ordinary?

Join #TeamNLCS and make a real difference in the lives of young people and adults with disabilities and additional support needs across Motherwell and Wishaw!

We have a permanent 16-hour-per-week opportunity available.

What will you be doing?

No two days are the same! You'll support people to get out, have fun and live life to the fullest – whether that is:

  • Swimming
  • Going to the gym
  • Bowling
  • Cinema trips
  • Activity clubs
  • Supporting college attendance
  • Going out for meals or to the pub

You'll also provide support with everyday tasks such as shopping, cooking, appointments, finances, medication, household tasks and personal care.

You’ll need to be confident in and around water, as swimming is a regular activity for one of the people we support. Due to the needs of the service, we will also need you to have a full UK manual drivers licence.

If you're friendly, reliable, caring and ready for a role where every day brings something new, we'd love to hear from you!

What we’re looking for – what matters most

No experience, don’t worry, we’re more interested in what you as a person will bring to our team.

We’ll give you full training, pay you for your training and provide a supportive team around you every step of the way. We’ll also fund your SVQ (SCQF Level 6/7) qualification and your PVG and SSSC registration fees.

  • Kind, compassionate and positive people
  • Reliable and committed
  • A good communicator and team player
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Willing to learn and try new things
  • Confident using technology and new systems
  • Organised, with good administrative and numeracy skills
  • Able to follow routines, policies and guidelines

More than just a job

Being a Support Practitioner is about much more than completing a shift. It's about building relationships, encouraging independence and helping someone enjoy a life that is meaningful to them.

There's no better feeling than heading home at the end of your shift knowing you've made a genuine difference to someone's life.

Ready to make your work matter?

Shift patterns

We understand that our colleagues like to have a good work/life balance, so we try to be as flexible as possible with our shift patterns. Our team currently deliver support between the hours of 0830-2100 hours. Shift length can be anything between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the needs of the person you will be supporting.

Please note – If if you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.

If you’re successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.

Cornerstone welcomes applications from all sections of the community and actively seeks to increase the diversity of our workforce.
