Key Responsibilities
Vision: To be the UK's leading digital infrastructure partner, enabling a fully connected future
Mission:
Deliver reliable, high quality site access, infrastructure and services that support our customers' evolving connectivity needs.
About Us
For almost two decades, Cornerstone's infrastructure has quietly supported the UK's mobile networks. Whilst we continue to strengthen that foundation and extend its reach, we're in an exciting period of acceleration and product development that will see us enable more connectivity and compute to more communities and industries across the UK.
We're looking for a finance professional who thrives on turning complex financial data into clear insights. This role sits at the heart of our Finance team, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and transparency of our Capex accounting, reporting and forecasting processes. You'll play a key role in supporting investment decisions, maintaining robust financial controls, and helping the business understand how capital expenditure impacts performance.
Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Property, Delivery and Operations, you'll provide meaningful analysis, support strategic planning, and ensure our financial reporting meets both internal and external requirements.
Why This Role Matters
Investment in our network infrastructure is critical to enabling connectivity across the UK. This role ensures that our capital investment is accurately recorded, effectively monitored, and clearly understood across the business.
You’ll provide the financial insight that supports decision-making, maintain strong governance over our fixed assets and capital programmes, and help ensure Cornerstone remains compliant with statutory, regulatory and audit requirements. Your work will directly contribute to the quality of financial reporting and the confidence stakeholders place in our financial performance.
What You’ll Do
- Produce accurate monthly Capex reporting, forecasts and performance commentary.
- Own the month-end accounting process for Capex, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, Work in Progress (WIP) balances and Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO).
- Deliver insightful variance analysis, highlighting risks, opportunities and key business drivers.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information across multiple systems and data sources.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Support customer billing activities and ensure compliance with contractual and financial obligations.
- Assist with statutory accounts preparation, financial disclosures and external audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting efficiency and system utilisation.
- Support ad hoc analysis, reporting requests and key business initiatives as required.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and governance requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Strong financial accounting knowledge and experience in month-end reporting processes.
- Experience managing fixed assets, capital expenditure accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proven ability to produce accurate financial reporting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Experience supporting statutory reporting and external audit activities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships across a matrix organisation.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis and reporting.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Agresso or similar financial systems would be advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving.
