We offer permanent contracts for 20-30 hours per week and relief opportunities for more flexible working.

The Role

You will play a vital role in making a difference in the lives of young people and adults with disabilities and additional support needs in the Motherwell and Wishaw communities.

The majority of your time will be spent out in the community supporting individuals with their hobbies and activities, including activity clubs, swimming, going to the gym, bowling, cinema, and social outings. Some supported individuals also study at college, and you will assist them in attending their courses. Confidence in water is essential, as supporting swimming activities is a regular part of the role.

Some individuals may require help with daily living tasks such as appointments, shopping, meal planning, cooking, housework, finances, medication, and personal care.

About You

We recruit based on values and transferable skills, so previous experience or qualifications in care are not necessary to start your career with us. We will provide training, fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualifications, and cover your yearly SSSC registration fees.

A full UK manual driving license is essential, as the supported individuals often use mobility cars.

All we ask is that you bring:

  • A caring and compassionate attitude
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • The ability to cook
  • Confidence in using computers

Shift Patterns

We aim to offer flexible shift patterns to support work/life balance. Shifts are between 8:30 and 21:00, including sleepovers, with weekends and public holidays rotating. Typically, you will work every second weekend. Shift lengths vary from 4 to 8 hours depending on your and the supported individual\'s needs.

If successful, you will be required to join the PVG Scheme and work towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare for SSSC registration. Registration with the SSSC must be completed within 3 months of starting employment.
