Remuneration: Salary: £28.2k per annum (increase to £31.3k upon successful completion of the probationary period). Start date: September 2026.

Responsibilities:
- Support engineers on site and learn from them daily during gas service and mains repair activities.
- Excavate, dig in the public and private highways, and lay and repair gas pipes while working safely outdoors as part of a team.
- Contribute to essential works that keep gas supply running to millions of people all year round, including standby and overtime opportunities for irregular hours.
- Maintain the SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring the team has all equipment to work safely and efficiently.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Curious and always wanting to learn and develop skills.

- Initiative and ownership: accountable for delivering safe services and continually improving ways of working.
- Calm and adaptive in situations involving public interaction.
- Comfortable working a rota with shift patterns, including weekends and nights, to provide customer safety 24/7, 365 days a year.
- Clean shaven and able to pass a face‑fit test for wearing tight‑fitting dust masks and breathing apparatus.
- Holds a valid UK driver’s licence.
- Based within a commutable distance of the desired locations due to operational response times.
