Role Description
Role Title: PMO Lead
Directorate: Finance & IT

Main Purpose of Role
The purpose of the role is to provide expertise and support to the Project Management Office (PMO) and work with the PMO Manager in the management and delivery of Cornerstones Project Governance Process and the Change Plan.
The role will be key to driving best practice Project Delivery across the whole of Cornerstone, by creating, defining & standardising the Project Governance Processes and their associated artifacts.
The role requires excellent communication skills to ensure effective communication across the Business at all levels. It also requires excellent Stakeholder Management and will be expected to present Project Change Plan updates to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
It also requires the ability to support PMO & IT wide initiatives from concept to delivery. This will involve the gathering, interpreting and application of information to enable potential solutions to be proposed.
In addition, there will also be a requirement to define and manage the Governance for different work submissions coming into the IT Department. Ensuring the work is reviewed, Impact Assessed, developed and Deployed in a controlled and standard manner. They will also be expected to be able to stand in for the PMO Manager on Customer contract (MSA) items related to Tooling & Interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- PMO Lead: Responsible for managing the day to day Cornerstone Project governance process within the PMO for all Internal Projects.
- To review and assess the Project Governance Process with the aim of seeking efficiencies and continuous improvement.
- Leading Project Managers and Business Owners through the Cornerstone Project Working governance from the initial idea through to the final Project Delivery.
- Working with the PMO Manager with the gathering of Project delivery status and the definition and management of the Change Plan. This will include the production of the Monthly Change Plan Report.
- Establishing and maintaining effective Governance of new work submissions into the IT Team.
- Supports Project Working \’Best Practice\’.
- Define, produce and Maintain Project related Forms, Documents and Templates to support the Cornerstone Project Governance process.
- Define and manage Process Reporting requirements for all stages of the Project Governance Life‑cycle.
- Define and implement Project Auditing processes to ensure all Cornerstone Projects are being managed in a consistent & high quality way.
- Manage Project Reporting for all Internal Projects during their delivery and perform monthly Project Reviews with their PMs and Business Owners.
- Project Management of internal PMO Initiatives / Projects: To lead the scoping and requirement gathering for any PMO internal Projects. This will involve the driving of a high‑level initiative into a Project IDEA and its eventual implementation and delivery.
- Governance of Submission of IT Work: To define, maintain and improve the Governance of work submissions into specific IT Teams (Agresso / Remedy, SharePoint, Siterra, Locken, TDI, Mobile Apps, etc). To ensure all work is understood, impact Assessed and allocated in line with the available resource in the specific area. To produce regular reports / slide decks on progress and chair meetings with teams across the business.
- Compliance & Security: To support and contribute actively to health and safety, environmental, business continuity and information security arrangements that meets our obligations to our customers.
- Business & Management Reporting: Prepare presentation material for management review meetings and attend Business meetings where all new Projects are reviewed.
- To act as the lead for ad‑hoc IT / PMO initiatives across the wider business.
Person Specification (Expertise)
- Experience (technical, managerial, industry)
- Experience of Project Management methodologies (ie. PRINCE2 / AGILE).
- Demonstrates expertise in Project planning, Project Assurance and has expert knowledge of the typical Project related documents.
- Experience in delivering Telco solutions.
- Education level / Qualifications (professional, vocational)
- A-Levels / Hons Degree or equivalent in computer science, telecommunications or engineering.
- Prince2 / AGILE (or other Project Methodology) formal qualifications.
- Skills / Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).
- Strong inter‑personal skills and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Clear and concise communication skills both upward and within the team.
- Ability to work in fluid, high‑pressure environments on multiple items to tight deadlines.
- Good knowledge project management frameworks and methodologies (Prince 2, Agile Scrum).
