An opportunity has arisen for a Network Analyst within Network Planning based in our Edinburgh office, reporting to the Strategic Planning Lead. We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses. Every role, whether in the office or on the front line, plays a key part in this mission.

Here’s how you will contribute:

  • Maintain a current and thorough knowledge of the Distribution supply system
  • Ensure the accuracy of SGN’s Network Analysis computer models
  • Support development of the supply system in a safe and efficient manner
  • Determine the optimum method of network operation consistent with minimising costs and maintaining statutory obligations
  • Develop optimum mains replacement designs, taking account of factors such as cost, deliverability and interaction with other activities/business drivers
  • Develop reinforcement designs in support of new connections, taking account of factors such as cost, deliverability and interaction with other activities/business drivers
  • Develop a detailed understanding of Leakage and Environmental Emissions Incentive
  • Provide network analysis support to the wider business
  • Provide an efficient and effective service to operational departments

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Scotland LDZ Network Analysis Standby rota.

What you will need:

  • An awareness of working within a budget and being cost-conscious
  • The ability to think on your feet whilst always being safety aware
  • Excellent computer literacy, experience of general office software and engineering related applications
  • A positive and flexible approach to work
  • Highly motivated with good organisational, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator at all levels and be able to act on your own initiative
