We have an important responsibility to keep the gas flowing to 5.9 million homes and businesses across the UK. The world is changing fast — expectations from customers, communities, regulators and our stakeholders are rising. Technology is moving quicker than ever. We need to catch up and then stay ahead if we want to be the best Gas Distribution Network in the UK.

We are seeking a detail‐oriented and proactive Project Support Officer to support the Initiative Lead and Programme Manager in delivering agreed outcomes on time, within budget, and to the highest standard. This role is critical to maintaining robust project controls, governance reporting, and supporting efficient delivery across the transformation programme.

Here’s how you will contribute:

  • Support the Initiative Lead and Programme Manager to deliver programme outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Contribute to tracking project delivery progress and escalating variances where necessary.
  • Support the identification and monitoring of project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Facilitate the production of key project reports, dashboards, and data summaries to support governance and decision‐making processes.
  • Set up and maintain project/programme document libraries.
  • Assist in the preparation for programme reviews, governance forums, and stakeholder updates.

What you will need

  • Experience from having worked in a similar role in support of complex projects or programmes.
  • Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and present findings clearly.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of project management principles and lifecycle.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is essential and experience with project tools (e.g. MS Project, Jira) would be advantageous.
  • Appropriate qualifications would be advantageous (e.g. P3O, PRINCE2, APM, PMI).
