As our Streetworks and Liabilities Support Officer, you’ll work closely with the Centralised Admin Senior Leadership Team and the wider operational administration community to deliver a safe, efficient, and high‑quality support service for the COO directorate. You’ll play a key role in championing best practice and ensuring full compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and governance frameworks. With a strong focus on streetworks and traffic management legislation, you’ll help shape how we operate, strengthen our compliance culture, and confidently represent SGN externally—building trusted relationships and showcasing our commitment to excellence.
Here’s how you will contribute…
- Lead and manage the successful delivery of three teams responsible for SGN’s Streetworks and Liabilities activity in our southern network.
- Operate as the senior leader and escalation point for streetworks‑related queries and issues.
- Effectively manage people‑related matters and escalations, including attendance management, capability processes, and disciplinary actions.
- Proactively review performance to identify, develop, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure potential business impacts are managed through appropriate change processes in order to meet and exceed performance targets.
What you will need:
- Ability to lead through change, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of relevant HR policies, with proven experience in people management.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively both internally and externally.
- Comprehensive understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements associated with operating on roads within our southern network.
- Commercial awareness and drivers of cost, and ability to effectively manage this back with operational regions.
- Experience in a leadership role overseeing street works liability management or similar compliance‑focused roles.
- Demonstrable knowledge of NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) and related permitting regulations and processes.
- Excellent understanding of Highway Authority ways of working.
- Experience of engaging with and influencing key prominent stakeholders.
